Arrived Sunday 25th November at 5.30pm and the site is closed for refurbishment. It had obviously been closed for quite a while. There was nothing to say when it will open again.
Second time of visiting. No improvements of the site. Access to pitches tight and will not be improved by the fact install more permanent pitches.
A lot of what previous reviewers say is true, there are good cycle paths, the swimming pool and area is lovely. We are here in June 2018. There are many local annual pitches, gypsy encampment. The shower I used today was frightening, the noise before it came on was very loud, the hot water lasted a minute before I was doused in cold water. There are three hot water sinks for washing up. Bar didn\'t have any wine, only beer from can. All in all not our favourite we would not return. Even though Placensia is lovely.
Very peaceful camping with a welcoming Reception. Good free WiFi throughout the site. Shower/toilet block unheated and in need of modernisation, but there is unlimited hot water. Outdoor pool and restaurant closed at present. Well placed by foot/cycle path alongside the Jerte River: about 3 km into Plasencia with its medieval centre, shops etc. A good cycle ride in the other direction for 14 km each way, on the riverside path, over the dam wall and round the lake.
We arrived here after the site had received a heavy rain storm and it seemed to have coped well enough, wide dirt pitches without hedges under trees. Shower blocks were fine and clean despite the mud outside. Helpful, friendly staff at reception. We walked along the river into town, from the campsite to Plaza Mayor took us 50 minutes. We had a good, free Wifi signal on our pitch and they never charged for an extra dog. It was quiet but I suspect it would be very different in high season with all the long stay caravans.
We loved this site as we could cycle into Plasencia across the old pedestrian bridge and wander around the town - seeing the storks nesting on the cathedral - and then cycle to a huge Carrefour for supplies - beautiful profusion of birds and we even saw a kingfisher - we will definitely return - very peaceful
We stayed here twice last year, on our way to Algarve and back, altogether four nights, in April and May 2016. The campsite is very nice and we liked very much the possibility to bike along the river to the city of Cáceres. But, in May we had a problem, the popples/cottonwoods on the camping had bloomed and let loose all the cotton they had, and it was much. We had cotton everywhere, inside, outside... So we decided not to go there this year despite all the advantages it had...
We used this as a one night stopover rather than our usual Caceres site. Nothing wrong with the site, just had an odd feeling to it! A lot of long stay residents. Good toilet facilities. A bit out of Plasencia. Ok for a one nighter. Peter Caceres with its en-suite facilities.
We stayed for one night and wouldn't choose to go back other than if we were desperate for a stopover. The site is dominated by long term 'residents'. Toilets and showers were very clean. It was resonably easy to find. We used our ACSI card, didn't have electricity and we were charged extra for 2 dogs.
