Camping Paxariña is situated in the extreme west of Spain, at an extraordinary location: on a rock. It is close to the fishing village of Portonovo and a stone's throw away from a beautiful, secluded bay, great for a refreshing dive. A bit further on lies the large sandy beach Praia de Montalvo, also a popular weekend destination for the local population.
The entrance of the camping site is adjacent to a hotel in a curve of the cul-de-sac. On the gently sloping grounds there are several pitches on small, modest fields, surrounded by paved pathways that run across the camping site. Some pitches are partly shaded, but most of them are open and all have a hardened surface. At the edge of the camping site you have a spectacular view of the water. The panoramic pitches on this location are most in demand. At the entrance of the camping site are wooden bungalows.
The entire coastline of this region has a length of some 1300 km and with 700 beaches you will always find a spot to enjoy the colourful rocky coastline. This is definitely an ideal location for bird watchers. You will experience the ultimate feeling of freedom when you leave the mainland behind you and pay a visit to the Ons and Cíes islands.
Do you feel like a bit more action during your camping holiday? Thanks to the many beaches, participating in a variety of water sports such as windsurfing, sailing and diving here is an unforgettable experience.

Having read ACSI reviews dating back to 2011 it would appear from our recent overnight stay that this site has not improved in the slightest. Visiting in May 2015 we found that it was a shanty town of static caravans most with sheds/ stores and decking, some in a terrible state.
We travelled miles out of our way on the expectation that this site would be up to the usual ACSI standard. Oh were we sadly disappointed! Please alter your description so that other caravan and camper owners do not suffer a similar fate to us.
Truly horrible site. Restaurant NOT open, no bread available, dryer hasn't worked for ages, pitches totally unsuitable for motorhomes. Beautiful location spoilt completely by hideous, ramshackle sprawl of 'permanent' caravans, sheds and fences. Needless to say, staying only one night. Avoid at all costs and REMOVE from booklet! Did the ACSI inspector go to this site? Description in ACSI booklet is mostly fiction.
Would not recommend this site for touring campers as the site consists of about 90% statics, is over crowded, campsite access roads blocked by caravanner cars/vans. Noise of people and vehicles continues till 0030hrs Fri. to Mon. 2GB & 2NL tourers very displeased. Site should not be included by ACSI.
This site was good with the main advantages of, if you can get the right pitch, a wonderful sea view over Isla de Ons and a short walk (300 yards from a gate in the north fence) to a very nice sandy rural beach with 2 beach bars. Toilet facilities good and cleaned daily, sometimes twice. Unfortunately whilst we were shop or bar was closed for a refurb. The restaurant/ pizza bar is available in the hotel on the same site although we only used it for a drink. In the camping card guide its specifically says access is easy for motor caravans but it was also easy for our 7 metre twin axle caravan. The site has a lot of permanently sited touring caravans, a few a bit “tatty”, so in consequence it is a lot busier at weekends. The pitches are a bit smaller than most. Overall we would use this site again.
