In the heart of the La Rioja wine region, on the Santiago de Compostella pilgrimage route, lies Camping Bañares. Wine and culture lovers can really indulge themselves in the region. But as a matter of fact, you do not have to leave the camping site, because it offers everything you need. Furthermore, you can sleep in a large 'wine barrel'. How fitting...
Sleeping in a wine barrel
The grounds are neatly laid out with straight hedges and paved pathways. There is little shade as yet and there are many permanent pitches. The tourist pitches are located in rows on a still quite open field with young vegetation. There is no demarcation. If you want to hire accommodation, you can choose between traditional (mobile home) and adventurous (wooden bungalows in the shape of a wine barrel). The matching seating arrangement is also in wine barrel style. The camping site is popular among permanent guests from Spain.
Large swimming pool
At the heart of the camping grounds you will find the large swimming pool. The toddler pool is also fairly large. The pools are fenced in, with the loungers outside. Therefore, the chances that you will be soaked are slim. Around the pool there is vegetation of medium-sized trees, so that you will always find a spot in the shade. The sanitary facilities are fine.
Sport and games
In terms of facilities Camping Bañares has it all. Guests can enjoy themselves on the pétanque pitch, on the tennis court and with the entertainment. Small campers will amuse themselves on the playground, of course.
The restaurant is new and of fine quality. There is also a terrace. The supermarket on the camping site has a large range.

The site is between motorway and n road behind services. The pitch we were given 482 was on the edge of the permanent site facing where you empty your toilet although there was at least 100 pitches spare with a view I can only think it was because we had an Acsi card and staying 1 night. Also at about 10 pm a groupe of girls gathered near our tent screeching singing and shouting this went on until 11.45 pm after telling them to be quiet.
