If you are on your way to the south of Spain or Portugal, you'll find that campsite Pico de la Miel is a suitable stopover campsite. It is situated some sixty km north of Madrid, near the mountain village of La Cabrera. The campsite is somewhat disorderly and consists chiefly of bungalows and chalets, but the swimming pool has been completely renovated and the view of the mountain range is unique.

Chalets and bungalows
Both the camping grounds and the reception have a somewhat cluttered look. Campsite Pico de la Miel is a large campsite, mainly consisting of a maze of bungalows and chalets: there are no less than three hundred permanent pitches and some thirty rental accommodation units. The pathways are mostly unpaved. Most of the permanent guests are Spanish people, who tend to park their cars on the empty touring pitches.
Transit campsite
The touring pitches are located on a separate section of the campsite, which is not easily accessible. The path leading to the pitches is narrow with lots of overhanging branches. This is something to keep in mind if you have a large caravan or motorhome. The touring pitches are rather tight. Most of the grass has gone as well, as a result of which they can get muddy or covered with drift sand. Therefore, Pico de la Miel is primarily suitable as a stopover campsite for one night.
Catering in high season
Centrally located on the campsite there is a square with a playground. All facilities are also found here: a restaurant, a sociable bar with terrace and a campsite shop. These facilities are open in high season (mid- June to mid-September). In low season all catering facilities on the campsite are closed during the week, including the campsite shop.
