Halfway between Barcelona and Valencia, on the east coast of Spain, lies camping site L'Orangeraie. This small three-star camping site lives up to its name: the camping site looks like a botanical garden, full of lovely flowering shrubs and trees. The camping site is laid out on a sloping terrain with beautifully designed terraces. Here you can enjoy a well-deserved rest. L’Orangeraie is located some ten kilometres from the coast, but from your pitch, you can see the Mediterranean Sea glistening in the distance.
Like a botanical garden
The pitches are spread out across the park-like camping grounds on beautifully laid-out plateaus, surrounded by citrus trees, palms, cypresses and olive trees. With only 62 pitches, this is a small-scale camping site, resembling a botanical garden. The pitches are clearly demarcated and the numerous trees and bushes provide a fair amount of privacy. The pitches vary considerably in size. If you have a large caravan or motorhome, ask for one of the larger pitches when you make your booking.
Soothing peace and quiet
On the camping site you do not notice anything of the hustle and bustle of the coast. For many campers, this is a great relief when compared to the busy, overcrowded camping sites on the coast. In fact, it may be a bit too tranquil for some. Except for the swimming pool, there are few activities on the camping site and there is no entertainment programme.
Camping site L’Orangeraie boasts a superb blue outdoor swimming pool, with a lagoon-shaped design and surrounded by large palm trees. There is a separate toddler pool. The swimming pool is surrounded by a tiled sun deck with loungers and thatch sun umbrellas. The swimming pool is located adjacent to the restaurant, offering a view of the azure water from the pleasant terrace.

A great modern campsite with good staff and a wonderful swimming pool. The poolside cafe offers a very limited menu and the shop is poorly stocked.
What spoilt an otherwise perfect site was the flies! They were numerous and very very irritating - the camp owner served us drinks from the bar carrying a fly swat !!
A great shame.
Beautifully maintained clean campsite, ablution facilities clean and modern.
Short walk or cycle into town. Well worth a couple of days.
What a lovely site! We were greeted with a very warm welcome and the pitches, setting, site is lovely and a credit to the owners. The facilities here were among the best we've ever seen too - even the view from them is great! There are olives and fruit trees all around the site. Calig itself doesn't have much to offer though there is a small supermarket, bakers and cafes and the town is pleasant enough. A great "get away from it all" site which we hope to return to.
The new management have made few changes, more tables at the bar for example and so the site remains as excellent as it has always been. A real haven with beautiful trees and hedges. You can just about walk to Calig village, though along a road with no pavements.
We stayed here in February 2015 and stayed for several nights. The owners are very friendly and helpful and at last a campsite in Spain that isn't like a car park more like staying in a very attractive garden. Superb facilities clean and efficient, lovely area for walking and an easy walk into the nearest town. The campsite was so good we called in and stayed for 3 more nights before returning home. Will definitely be back.
Lovely site, even lovelier people. Small site set in old orchard, varied individual pitches with privacy. Lovely helpful owners. I needed help with a sudden toothache problem talked to owner who phoned his dentist and set me up with an appointment with an English speaking dentist for the next day. But what's more his wife was going in to town to take Benji (the dog) for a haircut so she could give us a lift there and back. Prescription for antibiotics and I am sorted. Stock up before you arrive as Calig has nothing! Fresh bread , pizzas and frites available at bar, but really just chill.
Absolutely love visiting l'orangerie. Patricia and Laurent make everyone so welcome. The site is beautiful, swimming pool is perfect, The pitches are of varying sizes and surrounded by flowering plants and fruit trees, we were fortunate enough to enjoy fresh apricots for breakfast. I can't recommend this site highly enough.
A very pleasant campsite that had generously spaced out pitches. It was only 5 km from the autoroute. The site was quiet, bery clean and well run.
Prachtige camping. Heerlijk rustig. Alles even netjes en verzorgd. Vriendelijke ontvangst. De beplanting is echt mediteraans (oleanders citrusboompjes, palmen, bougainville ....) we waren van plan om 5 dagen te blijven, het zijn er inmiddels 30.
The best site we have found in Spain, in a lovely rural area. The pitches were grass with hedges between and well maintained. The owners were so helpful and friendly. The site is well managed and the toilet block was excellent. The town was a 10 min walk, with a supermarket, bakery, hairdresser, chemist and market weekly.
