Halfway between Barcelona and Valencia, on the east coast of Spain, lies camping site L'Orangeraie. This small three-star camping site lives up to its name: the camping site looks like a botanical garden, full of lovely flowering shrubs and trees. The camping site is laid out on a sloping terrain with beautifully designed terraces. Here you can enjoy a well-deserved rest. L’Orangeraie is located some ten kilometres from the coast, but from your pitch, you can see the Mediterranean Sea glistening in the distance.
Like a botanical garden
The pitches are spread out across the park-like camping grounds on beautifully laid-out plateaus, surrounded by citrus trees, palms, cypresses and olive trees. With only 62 pitches, this is a small-scale camping site, resembling a botanical garden. The pitches are clearly demarcated and the numerous trees and bushes provide a fair amount of privacy. The pitches vary considerably in size. If you have a large caravan or motorhome, ask for one of the larger pitches when you make your booking.
Soothing peace and quiet
On the camping site you do not notice anything of the hustle and bustle of the coast. For many campers, this is a great relief when compared to the busy, overcrowded camping sites on the coast. In fact, it may be a bit too tranquil for some. Except for the swimming pool, there are few activities on the camping site and there is no entertainment programme.
Camping site L’Orangeraie boasts a superb blue outdoor swimming pool, with a lagoon-shaped design and surrounded by large palm trees. There is a separate toddler pool. The swimming pool is surrounded by a tiled sun deck with loungers and thatch sun umbrellas. The swimming pool is located adjacent to the restaurant, offering a view of the azure water from the pleasant terrace.

We spent three nights here, for two of which we were the only occupants! What a lovely site! The friendly, helpful French owners opened in January for the first time this year, and word doesn't seem to have got around yet. Wonderful spacious, private pitches separated by well-tended trees and bushes, spotlessly clean facilities and delightful views of the surrounding hills and distant sea. A gem of a site!
Beautiful tranquility 10km away from the brash sky rise at the coast. Excellent quiet, small, friendly and sociable site with good pitches and a wonderful pool. Within walking distance of Calig an authentic Spanish small town. Very friendly and helpful owners - just love it here.
If you love camping sites in France, then you will ADORE this French site in Spain. The pitches are a very good size and they are 'grass'. The pitches and surrounding shrubbery and very well tended and it is an absolute delight to stay here. Patricia & Laurent, the owners, will do everything to make your stay one that you will remember, for all the right reasons. Go there and give it a try.
The welcome from Patricia and Lauren was first class, they were perfect hosts. The site sparkling clean everywhere and the pitches well defined and all level with plenty of space. Good views down to the sea. Calig is a lovely little village with several bars and 3 small supermarkets. We liked it so much we visited there a 2nd time on our way from Malaga back to France. House flies were a bit annoying but had gone when we returned. Will definitely stay again.
Very nice people. We were here in July and August. Site very clean and the roast chicken was very good. We would recommend this site.
This site was to be a stop over on our way home but it's so lovely that we stayed for two nights. Patricia and Laurent could not make you feel more welcome and their site is a credit to them; stunning location, facilites top rate, lovely pool in which I had a dip, nice grass pitches surrounded by wonderful flora and fauna. This site is a little gem and will be on our list to visit again but for a longer period next time.
A wonderful site in a wonderful setting. The owners are helpful and charming hosts. Toilets & showers spotlessley clean, modern & easy to use. The pitches are large & well laid out with electricity & water nearby. Stunning swimming pool & sunbathing area. Very handy for the coast resorts with sandy beaches and large supermarkets all within 10 kilometers. Plenty to see in the area and along the coast. A must further inland is a day in the town of Morella to visit the old town with plenty of restaurants and a castle to climb to. If you have the time, return via the small village of Vallibona which is in the Parc Natural de la Tinenca de Benifassa with stunning views and amazing villages, it is a long drive but well worth it. An added bonus is the freshly baked croissants made by Laurent which you can order the day before and they will be ready to collect for breakfast the next day, they are superb. Free WiFi with good We were intending to stay for 2 nights but we stayed for 6.
This is an idyllic campsite set in peaceful countryside just a 10-minute drive from the coast. The pitches are generous and well laid out, and the toilet and washing facilities are spotless, as is the beautiful swimming pool. During our stay at least four other couples couldn't resist staying longer than their planned overnight stop!
You could not wish for better hosts either - Laurent and Patricia are simply delightful. I cannot recommend them, and their campsite, highly enough. An absolute gem of a place!
Wonderful campsite set in lovely landscaped pitches. Set amongst 1000 year old olive trees. Modern toilet block & showers, ample drinking water points and electric. Swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds, children's pool. Staff very friendly (English speaking). Local village (Calig) with good restaurants. Campsite coffee shop and bar open from July. 15mins drive to lovely sandy beaches. L'Orangeraie is a good place to relax and unwind.
