Campsite Sjöstugans is situated on a promontory jutting into a large lake (Möckeln) in the south of Sweden. On this family campsite you may choose your own spot on the lake shore. You camp here amidst nature: on grass under trees, with a splendid view of the water. In the nearby town of Älmhult, the first IKEA store was opened in 1958. Nowadays, there is an IKEA museum here.
Sjöstugan Campsite is attractively located on a wooded promontory. You camp here on grass under tall trees. The site slopes and has substantial height differences. There are no demarcated pitches. If you arrive early in the day, you are likely to have a wide choice of pitches. If you get there a bit later, chances are that you will stand on a less level pitch. Make sure you bring adequate tools to level your camping equipment.
Terrace by the water
The campsite offers a variety of catering facilities, including a beautiful restaurant directly by the water. The view from the conservatory and the terrace is spectacular.
Beaches and islands
Möckeln is a large lake which lends itself perfectly to various watersports. Furthermore, it is an ideal spot for fishing. Along the wooded banks of the lake there are numerous jetties, pebble beaches and sandy beaches. The campsite has its own beach with a jetty and beach showers. You can hire canoes, kayaks and rowing boats to explore the lake. Tip: pack some food and sail to one of the many islands for a picnic. Adjacent to the campsite is Bökhults Badplats, a public beach which is very popular with swimmers. It has floating play equipment in the water for children.
