On the edge of the Hoge Kempen National Park, just across the border near the Flemish town of Maasmechelen, lies Recreation Resort Kikmolen. At this campsite you will find beautiful touring pitches on small grassy areas scattered throughout the wooded campsite. Walk or cycle directly from the campsite into the multifaceted nature park, or take a dip with your children in the large swimming lake with its water slides.

The campsite is located about 5 minutes from the A2 highway. Take exit 33 towards Lanaken and you will soon find yourself in the wooded area of the campsite. These forests are part of the Hoge Kempen National Park, the large Flemish nature reserve on the Kempen plateau. From the campsite, you can walk or cycle straight to the Hoge Kempen National Park.

Camping on small grassy fields

Most of this large campsite consists of permanent year-round sites. Nearly 130 more touring pitches are scattered around the campsite on separate grassy fields. Nice modern sanitary buildings with rooms for disabled people, baby rooms are close to the touring pitches.

Swimming in the natural pool

The extensive swimming lake at the front of the campsite is ideal for young swimmers or kids who can't yet swim (properly). Much of the lake is quite shallow, making it safe for even the youngest to swim.

Hoge Kempen National Park

From the campsite, you can walk or cycle straight to the Hoge Kempen National Park. There are some 200 kilometres of hiking trails in this more than 5,700-hectare nature reserve.

Liked - Ondanks dat er veel kinderen zijn voelde de camping toch rustig aan.
Disliked - Aan de receptie mogen ze de mensen wat vriendelijker ontvangen. In de douches rook het soms naar ‘putteke’.

Liked - water en glijbanen waren super met het mooie weer
Disliked - vriendelijkheid aan de receptie mag wat beter en het wordt tijd dat men bankcontact installeerd zowel in receptie als in het winkeltje
winkel mag vroeger open zijn vind ik als je ontbijt wilt kopen is dat wat laat om 9 h open gaan

Liked - Er zijn ongelooflijk veel interessante dingen om te zien in de buurt van de camping o.a. Bokrijk, C-mine, Museum "de brug van vroenhoven", het gezellige "Oud-Rekkem",... . Veel wandel en fiets mogelijkheden. Park Hoge Kempen ligt naast de camping.
Disliked - Het koele onthaal van de eigenaars. Ze hebben er precies niet zo veel zin meer in. Je voelt je niet echt welkom en hebt geen zin om iets te gaan vragen. Camping heeft ongelooflijk veel potentieel maar wordt op ouderwetse manier gerund.

Liked - De ligging, accommodatie, vriendelijke mensen, mooie omgeving, lekker eten
Disliked - Het geluid van de autostrade ‘s nachts, soms een vieze riool/toiletgeur in het sanitair blok, de slagbomen bij de ingang die veel te snel naar beneden komen. Twee van ons groepje hebben de slagboom op hun hoofd/rug gekregen, gelukkig geen erge verwonding maar er zou een aparte doorgang voor de fietsers moeten zijn zodat dit niet kan gebeuren.

Liked - Vlotte reservatie via internet. Propere sanitaire blok. Veel ontspanningsmogelijkheden op de camping.
Disliked - Lange wachttijd aan het onthaal. Je kan alleen cash betalen.

Liked - De laatste avond geluidsoverlast gehad, nadat we dit gemeld hadden de volgende dag werd er oprecht gereageerd en baalde ik ervan dat in de avond niet gebeld hadden.
Het park is schoon en netjes, sanitair ook.
Disliked - Als je wilt uitchecken; de receptie is pas laat open; vanaf 10 uur.
