Within walking distance of the centre of the historic town of Loches, on the banks of the Indre river, you'll find the charming camping site La Citadelle. This natural camping site is ideal for a relaxed holiday with the entire family. Kids will have plenty of fun at La Citadelle with the lovely playground. Behind the city walls of Loches there are a mishmash of medieval streets. Twice a week there is a market with lovely regional products. Certainly try the special goat's cheese and the tender chicken.
The pitches are located on separate fields and partially separated from each other with plants. The pitches are spacious and some have their own sanitation facilities and a kitchenette for an extra fee. How convenient! In total you can choose from four different categories, from simple to "Gold". You always have a sunny lawn with plenty of privacy.
Accommodations in all shapes and sizes
The rental accommodations also fall into four categories, from relatively simple Coco Sweets (two to four persons) and two person huts to mobile homes with two bedrooms, your own terrace and complete furnishings. The largest accommodation is the "Grand Espace" (four bedrooms). In short, plenty of choice.
Children can play in the play area or take a dip in the covered pool, renovated in 2017, with their parents. In the summer there are plenty of activities for the whole family.
Fresh rolls and croissants
The camping shop has the daily necessities, such as fresh rolls and croissants The restaurant (with bar and terrace) serves pizzas and has a small menu.

Very clean, very well organised site with excellent staff. Pleasant walk into the city which is well worth a visit. If coming up from the south to avoid the city centre follow the main road round until you reach the roundabout with the big super market on it. There is a campsite sign on the roundabout.
Location very good next to river and short walk to interesting town. Site quiet, preparing for end of season. Cafe closed but plenty in town. Mostly pensioners stopping for a few nights on way south. Pitches good and level, with balance of open/shade. Sanitations clean and satisfactory (supply your own paper). Fantastic heated indoor pool. Would recommend.
No restaurant as advertised in Asci book which I felt was misleading. Showers had no hot water, outside toilets weren\'t very nice and the rubbish bins and recycling looked as if they had never been emptied all season. Only stayed 3 nights as so awful.
The showers were not clean and had no hot water. The outside toilets were not great either. The bins and recycling were completely full of rubbish so much so that it was difficult to put ours in! We will not be visiting again.
Stayed on site end of September, staff helpful and friendly, toilet/showers were kept adequately supplied with paper, but are a little unsure although relatively clean not sure exactly how much cleaning was being done day to day. Would however return.
Most of the toilets closed, showers hot but very scruffy. Close to town and great for a couple of nights.
We stayed at this site for 6 nights as a base to explore the Châteaux of the Loire. We has a superior pitch with it\'s own water and grey waste disposal. We have a 6m motorhome.
We thought the site excellent. The pitch had high hedges on 3 sides so we had good privacy when on the site. The toilet block was good although there was no soap to wash one\'s hands. The showers were excellent. The site amenities such as the pool and bar were also very good. There was entertainment on several evenings but not our thing so we didn\'t go although from what we were seeing a lot of people did and were enjoying themselves. Lots of facilities for children and teenagers (although we have none to give an independent review!).
The site is literally a 10 minute walk from the centre of Loches which is a lovely town with some excellent bars and restaurants (which were tested by us).
From the site we visited a number of Châteaux and other attractions so the location for this was good.
We would use the site again if we return to the area.
Access to this site can be difficult if approaching from the north as you have to pass along a very nerrow street which was a bit dfficult with our fith wheeler. That said once on the site itself we had plenty of room and were able to unhicth fairly easily. It was a bit noisy in the morning when we were there as the piscine next door was being demolished!
Excellent site for a few days and with an easy pedestrian access to the medieval citadel of Loches and a beautiful park.
The wi-fi was expensive but with several aerials around the site. Unfortunately our pitch, 63, didn\'t get a signal without using our booster.
Motorhome service point was poor for grey water disposal in respect of access and slant..
A beautiful Site. We stayed on a Gold pitch which had its own toilet and washing up facilities in the \"Shed\" together with Sunbeds and Picnic Table and Chairs. The heated Swimming Pool was superb, the bar and cafe by the pool looked great, we couldn\'t try these as they close at the end of August (shame), but the town of Loches is just a short walk with plenty of Cafes and Restaurants. The Staff were friendly and helpful.
