The four star camping site Les Nobis d’Anjou is ideally situated on the crossroad between the Anjou, Touraine en Poitour regions, only 15 km from the town of Saumur. You can enjoy a lovely holiday on a 3 ha camping site on the banks of the Thouet, at the foot of the castle of Montreuil-Bellay.
Investing in more greenery
The camping site has a nice reception with ample tourist information about the area. There are spacious pitches which provide ample shade. The enthusiastic, young owners have invested in more greenery, improved illumination and sanitary facilities. The rental accommodation on the camping site has a few Pipo trailers and luxury tents.
Swimming and sunbathing
Camping Les Nobis d’Anjou has a fairly modest pool, which is still lovely, also because of the view of the castle. It is surrounded by ample loungers on which to soak up the sun. Moreover, the attractive lounge terrace is located under the trees at the entrance of the camping site.
Amiable, well priced restaurant
The restaurant on the camping site is run by Head Chef Thierry. He rules the roost in a kitchen where delectable dishes are served for an excellent price/quality ratio. In addition to meat and fish dishes, the menu offers a wide range of seasonal products with locally grown ingredients. You can choose between delicious specialities of the region.
In the immediate vicinity of the camping site you can, of course, visit the various attractions of Montreuil. Also nice: visit the Cadre Noir of Saumur (the oldest still existing riding school for equestrian sports in France) or the Musée de la Cavalerie (cavalry museum).

"Located in the medieval Montreuil-Bellay, at the foot of the Castle, on the banks of the Thouet river. Many modern facilities: large plots, heated swimming pool, new sanitary facilities, restaurant, cosy bar and animation. Many hiking and cycling routes, but also the heritage of the Loire; everything for a pleasant stay in this beautiful region."

Nice, clean and quiet site handy for visiting the tourist attractions. However, a charge was made for our dogs but no facilities whatsoever, eg dog walking area, were provided - we do not think that dogs should be charged for when there are no provisions made for them. We were also charged a night for our car, which we tow behind our motorhome, even though it was parked within the limits of our pitch. Nice site, but every cent possible is extracted from you, so we would not return. I hope Acsi will note the car charge in their next guide.
Close to interesting town, easy walk to good supermarket (if not carrying too much!). Easy access to interesting surrounding area. Well kept level site, though probably busy in summer. Plenty of trees provide shade, but some pitches have sun much of the day. We stayed a week, went to La Rochelle, and stopped again for several days on the return journey.
lovely site nestled between a river and the lovely old town. Had a pitch overlooking the river. Walked into the town which is very peaceful and picturesque. We only stayed one night. Had a fantastic meal in the site restaurant (all local food and fresh). Great for a stopover
This is our third visit to this site & although we did not stay here in 2013, from the reviews it was obviously going downhill fast. However, on the strength of the review of April 2014, we decided to give it another chance. So glad we did. The new owners are doing extremely well in turning Les Nobis into the site it should be! Don\'t let the 2013 reviews put you off.
The site has a new owner who are busy renovating and adding new equipment the last owner let run down. They are extremely helpful and really want you to have a great holiday.
We were given great advice and places to buy good wine at a reasonable price.
I would recommend a visit. The toilets have been updated and are spotless. We never used the pool as it\'s not open till May and they were busy emptying cleaning the area. The children loved the play area and want to come back as they know there will be a trampoline on site soon.
I can only say the site is under new management for one month and in that time they have made the place spotless. We never planned to visit as we we\'re supposed to have been on another site which was awful so we left same day and found here.
We have a 7, 9 and a 15 yr old and they were all happy with the play area and free wifi and cycling around.
I stayed here previously and wasn't impressed, but decided to give it another try. Never again! We arrived early in September and even though the site didn't close for another month, the pool wasn't open. They told us at reception that it would be open within an hour, but they didn't bother. The pool area looked untidy, as though it hadn't been looked after or open for a long time. The bar was closed, and the whole place felt run down and there was absolutely no atmosphere in the place, despite there being a number of people using the site. The toilets were fine. I will never return...which is a shame as the town itself is very nice
When we arrived the camp site had only been open a week. The site was generally scruffy with uneven pitches and no hot water in the shower. I believe another camper complained but nothing appeared to have been done. We resorted in the end to usine the shower in the caravan.
As others have found site access can be tricky but we had no trouble getting through the two arches after turning just after the bridge and we have 2.3 m wide, 7 m overall caravan. The site itself is generally very good although to me it seemed that it is an ex municipal site that is in need of a little tlc. For the chemical toilet disposal to have been blocked for reportedly four or five days is ridiculous. However the location and Montreuil-Bellay make it a site worth visiting, even if for only two nights as we did. We enjoyed a reasonable pizza and salad in the restaurant.
IMPORTANT ACCESS INFORMATION
This is an excellent site in a very pretty location and I will add no more, however there are access issues which caravans and motor vans need to be aware of.
Those travelling from Angers, Cholet or Samure will be directed by their sat navs to the entrance road imediatly right at the end of the bridge, this road is narrow and takes you through two narrower arches the second of which could cause problems for larger outfits or newer drivers.
If you miss this turning at the end of the bridge and find yourself heading up into the town pay no attention to your sat nav there are no right turns that will not lead you into deep trouble you are advised to ignore any left turn instructions also, stay on the main road (also a narrow road with another arch) until you come out the other end of town, drive down to the roundabout and turn round Les Nobis is well signposted off this roundabout. (as below)
For preference access to the site should be by the roundabout south of the town for you info I give the latitude and longitude of this roundabout,
The Les Nobis access road is well signposted off this roundabout which is 150M on the left.
