Absolutely dreadful. Dirty and some facilities not open even though it was high season. Overgrown with weeds, including side access roads. Visited six years ago and was clean and well kept. Shocking difference
Great site, next to the sea within walking distance of the Isle Madame via a causeway at low water. This spacious site is well laid out with a mixture of shady and sunny pitches mostly good sized and level with low hedges giving reasonable privacy. There's a good sized heated swimming pool on site and snack bar. There's also a playground for kids and bouncy castle when we visited. The sanitaires aren't the most modern you'll find, but perfectly adequate and cleaned thoroughly each day. A bread van visits the site each morning about 9am. Staff are helpful and friendly. This is a great coastal location, not much around in terms of shops and restaurants but perfect if you want a relaxing stay in a pleasant location. A horse drawn charabang will take you to Isle Madam if walking isn't your thing. Recommended.
We only stayed one night as we were en route & it was out of season. The welcome was very pleasant and friendly and there was a good choice of pitches with both shady & sunny available. If the toilet facilities were not modern they were definitely cleaner than some sites we've stayed in. The small town was basically closed at this time of year. The big plus here is location. A very short distance from the water's edge and very quiet we did like it here. If you are lucky enough to get a sunset anything like one we did you'll understand why we will probably be back on this site again some day.
This is a very nice municipal campsite. It's located at the end of a small peninsula, in a lovely, quiet seaside village. Ille madam can be reached by a walkway at low tide, it's a beautiful place to visit, with stunning views. We liked the pool here, there's plenty of loungers and an attendant who keeps everyone safe. The beach is nice for sunbathing and swimming, it's 5 minutes walk from the site. There's a pizza restaurant and bar on the site and a snack bar by the pool, but this was closed while we were there.
Rochefort is a short drive away, it's a lovely old town. We also visited the old fort of Bruage, a fascinating place, with lovely cafés and craft shops. We also made some day trips to the Ille d'oleron, with its lovely beaches.
The one downside, we felt, was the toilet facilities on site. There are some good facilities at the front. And back of the site, but the ones in the middle need upgrading.
There was plenty of activities organised for children and adults.
