Campsite Kirchzarten is next to the village of Kirchzarten, to the south of the Black Forest. Although you camp close to the village, you feel like you are in the middle of the mountainous Dreisamtal countryside. The campsite is situated near the lovely city of Freiburg and the Europa-Park theme park and resort (Germany’s largest theme park) is close by.
You can reach the campsite easily via the A7. You can make your camping holiday as comfortable as you wish. There are lovely pitches on the grass for your own tent or caravan, but there are also various holiday homes and mobile homes for rent.
Free swimming and public transport
Next to the campsite there is a wonderful swimming pool complex. Admission to this pool is included in the overnight rate in the high season. Also included in the price is a KNOUS card for public transport. The train station is a ten-minute walk from the campsite and in 15 minutes you can be standing in the historical centre of Freiburg. If you want to plan a day trip for the next day, then you can use the free Wi-Fi connection at the campsite.
Day trips for young and old
There is plenty for children to do at the campsite. They can design their own t-shirt in the T-Shirt Factory and there are special ‘Dinners for Kids’ where children can sit down at a table together with their camping buddies. The Volante automobile museum is at walking distance. This museum houses a unique collection of historic French cars by Vanvooren. If you prefer cycling or walking then the Black Forest is a perfect location for a hiking or cycling tour.

We stayed at Kirchzarten for 9 nights and had a great time. The pitches are close together and there\'s not space for every car to park on their pitch, but there is parking in the meadow outside. The pitch was slightly uneven - we kept tripping into a small hole under our tent! The camping market is handy for bits and pieces of shopping, and there are super markets in the village for more comprehensive shopping. There is a restaurant on site, which we ate at once, the food was lovely. They also had regular evening concerts (silver band etc) which were very good. The toilet & shower blocks were nearly always spotlessly clean, although standards slipped slightly the last couple of days of our stay. Kirchzarten is a really pretty village, with supermarkets, coffee shops and other shops. Freiburg is only 15 minutes or so by train; the train station is 10-15 mins walk from the campsite and travel is free with the Konus card provided by the campsite. Europa Park wasn\'t far to drive, and was enjoyed by both adults and children. We also enjoyed the cable car at Schauinsland. The best bit? The pool complex! Free entry with wrist bands from the campsite, and we spent a lot of time there! There\'s lots of grassy areas, so take your camping chairs/picnic blanket to sit and relax on. There\'s a number of pools: toddler pool, diving pool, swimming pool (lengths), shallow children\'s pool (around waist height) and lastly, the fun pool with slide and rapids. Our three children could have spent the entire holiday in here!
We loved this campsite. For facilities this was most definately the best. Admittedly you do pay for this, it was the most pricey, but it was worth it and in comparrion to some UK sites was no more expensive.
On arrival we were given a map and allowed to choose the site we wanted. The sites varied in width, depth, stoney, grassy etc. There were 3 areas for facilites, we chose our pitch to be near the newest facilities. They really were lovely, lots of showers, very hot and clean. Baby area with big basin / bath, children's showers and family showers. The washing up facilities were equally as good.
The site had a swimming pool attached. It had a paddling pool with slide, 3 other pools and one other slide. All very well kept.Small shop on site for bread etc, town walking distance for supermarkets.
We wanted to be near the Titisee, the campsites closer were not nearly as nice.
