Camping Winkl-Landthal, situated in the heart of the Berchtesgadener Land, forms an ideal base for activities in this challenging region. This is where you can seriously engage in rafting, climbing, canyoning, paragliding and mountain biking. Those who like less strenuous activities can embark on light or moderate hikes, cycling trips or even alpine mountain trips.
Camping on a green and cosy site
This camping site is very green, compact and cosy. You have a wide choice of pitches. There are demarcated pitches, slightly more spacious comfort pitches for caravans and motorhomes and a large field for tents. In summer, the idyllic pitches on the clear mountain stream are very popular. These pitches on the stream are quiet and offer a view of the mountains; higher up the view is less interrupted and you can see the Alps even better.
Neat rental accommodation
If you are not travelling with your own camping equipment, you can rent fully furnished mobile homes on the camping site. These are suitable for two to six persons. Although the mobile homes are not very modern, they are quite comfortable. They are also very well maintained.
It goes without saying that a camping site in this region attracts mainly sporty (mountain) visitors who like (mountain) hiking and biking. In winter season the camping site attracts mainly cross-country ski enthusiasts, who are drawn to the many challenging ski tracks in the region.
Kiosk and cafetaria
There is a small kiosk near the reception where you can buy fresh rolls and a few other groceries. In addition, there is a cafeteria with a public area (table service) and a terrace. You can find a few supermarkets within walking distance in Winkl.

Smallish campsite with marked pitches, great of surrounding mountains, just off the main road. Pitches level part hard standing. Facilities fairly standard and very clean. Good welcome and information from the owner. 10 minutes walk to shopping centre and right near cycle tracks and footpaths. Some road noise on a weekday morning.
If we had read the previous reviews we\'d probably not have stayed here. But we found the staff friendly, the facilities we used were good. It\'s a rural site, but close to buses and supermarkets. Paying the tourist tax gets you the Gastkarte which gives you free travel on buses within the area. We visited konigssee and the Salzberkwerk with these. The staff can arrange a day trip by coach to Salzburg which rather than tackling the scrum at the bus station. A good site for independent minded travellers.
We must agree with many of the other contributors. we opted to pay the extra a serviced pitch so far acceptable.
We were aware that electricity in Germany was expensive and as the weather was cold and raining opted to use our own gas for heating during our 5 night stay.
Walking and views in the area are beautiful, however when we came to leave, and asked pay for our stay, was angered to find a substantial charge for electricity. When the charge was queried the owner simply shrugged her shoulders. This was by far the most expensive site we have ever used with Acsi. We would not recommend this site and judging by the previous comments am surprised Acsi still promote this site.
We stayed at this campsite for three nights due to its perfect position for visiting the surrounding area. Our stay was spoilt, however by the lady in Reception who was unfriendly and made you feel like you were bothering her. There were threatening, excessive signs everywhere which made you feel uncomfortable. It's a pity as there is so much to see in this area but we would not recommend this site to anyone.
We were pleased with our pitch and the camping in general.first time we've ever had to pay for hot water to wash up! Electricity usage above 4 kilowatts daily is extra and please read notice on reception door, as office doesn't open until 10am on Sunday's and we had 45 mins wait to depart!!!!!!
