Camping Winsen is a friendly, not too large camping site in a quiet landscape along a meandering river (the Aller). This small river is suitable for swimming and canoeing. The area is ideal for walking and cycling, or for trips to a beautiful town or the Bergen-Belsen memorial camp. The tourist town of Celle is within walking and cycling distance.
Park-like camping site
The camping site exudes an amicable atmosphere. The camping site is open, well maintained and is directly situated along the river. Part of the camping site lay-out resembles a park. The reception can be found in the centre of the camping site, in the same building as the restaurant. The camping site is uncluttered, with well maintained pitches and free fields; you can decide where you want to pitch your tent or put your caravan. The pitches are all different, on an open field, at the water's edge or under trees. The camping site does not specifically cater for families, although there is a playground.
Boating on the river
Via a jetty with sunbathing lawn you will reach the peaceful Aller River, where you can swim. You can also navigate the river with a canoe/kayak or with a cruise boat.
Simple and tasty food
There is a simple restaurant on the water's edge with a small menu, which serves homely fare. You can also sit on the terrace by the river. For shopping you can go to the nearby Winsen or Celle. You can order bread rolls on the camping site. The sanitary facilities are housed in a central building. The simple building is spacious and clean.

Another great stay with a warm welcome from the family. Ongoing improvements just make this site even better. We had a very large pitch which was easily accessible and ample room for van, awning and car. Plenty of cycle ways and walks. One of our favourites is Meissendorf with walks around the lakes. Lots of wildlife in the area. I can recommend the Walsrode bird park for a day out.
We really liked this campsite and would like to return to see more of the town. Friendly and helpful staff, good facilities and a beautiful area.
This is an excellent, friendly, family run site with very good sanitary facilities. It is by a river, and is a short walk into Winsen. We drove to the mediaeval town of Celle as we were there on a Sunday, but there is a bus stop outside the site.
Reception was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Facilities up-to-date and spotlessly clean. The restaurant has a limited menu but everything is freshly cooked. The town is a 15 minute walk away and has a supermarket. The site is ideally placed for exploration of the Lueneberg region by bike and the long distance Aller cycleway runs past the site. Good bus services run to Celle and to the Bergen -Belsen Memorial site. Hannover is also worth visiting and is easily reached by train from Celle if you do not want to drive. We greatly enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to return.
This has to be one of our favourite German Campsites. It is a family run site and they are friendly and helpful. The facilities though dated are clean and tidy - hot showers Bus to Celle from the village. The electric is monitored but when getting the bill it was still a good price.
Nice lake and beach area that you can swim or boat on. Excellent site
Stopped for one night on way north.Good facilities and friendly staff. Easy walk into village with plenty shops. River looks OK to swim in.
we used this site while visiting Bergen .Belsen the site is in a very attractive area, beside a river, and within walking distance to the village, the family who run this site make you very welcome, the toilets are spotless, we did not use the cafe. Our dog enjoyed swimming in the river, only small moan was when we went out in our motorhome the power cable is locked in a cabinet and left live, could be very dangerous if children playing, could do with a better system.
