An interesting one! As the other reviewer stated, the campsite owner is very 'particular' about where and how you pitch your tent, to the point of stipulating which direction your porch door face and on which side you park your vehicle. Over the top? Maybe, however, the campsite was very well run, peaceful and 'ordered'; would suit some, but not others.
The site is situated on a hill outside the town. The views are great with the castle in the foreground and the Rhine in the valley below. There is a swimming pool adjacent to the site and campers enjoy a discounted entry price.
Toilet / shower facilities are excellent, 50 cents for the showers.
The pitches are good for pegging your tent with some shade.
I like campsites without loads of kids running around near my tent and paying ball games near my car; so this worked for me.
This campsite is at the top of a winding hill, although it does offer good views of the valley from some pitches when you get up there. The site owners take a strong interest in the running of all aspects and check quite carefully that you have pitched your rig how they would like it. This can be a bit over-the-top in my opinion. The campsite is a little over-priced for what they offer in facilities and showers and electricity are on top of the pitch cost. Be aware that no credit cards are accepted and this can be overlooked when booking in. One great advantage of this campsite is the swimming pool complex next door which is brilliant and helped make Burg Lahneck tolerable for our short stay, but I don't think we will be rushing back.
