Camping Village San Francesco is located on the sunny south bank of Lake Garda, near Desenzano del Garda. This large, well maintained camping site lies at the beginning of the elongated peninsula, from which the attractive town of Sirmione juts out into the lake. Both children and adults will thoroughly enjoy themselves on the camping site or in one of the large amusement parks at the lake.
Not just camping
When you drive to the camping site, the first thing you will see is the wide driveway flanked by oleander trees. San Francesco is a well laid out and very green camping site with paved main roads and straight side roads. The pitches vary in size, the surface is mostly hardened. As the name 'Camping Village' indicates, in addition to camping pitches, rental accommodation in the form of mobile homes is also available. These are suitable for four to seven persons. They are located in a separate section somewhat further inland, while the touring pitches are closer to the lake.
Enjoying the lake (and more)
The camping site has its own sunbathing lawn along the lake with shady trees. Here you can rent a boat or canoe. In the section with mobile homes you will find the swimming pool and the sports facilities (tennis and volley ball). There is a convivial small bar near the sun-drenched swimming pool. The centrally located restaurant (with bar and pizzeria) is very sociable. Across the terrace of the restaurant is a playground for the little ones.
The sanitary facilities are clean and well maintained. The ablution blocks are neatly laid out. There are special children sanitary facilities with children's showers.

This was my first experience of an Italian site and perhaps the previous site at Innsbruck might have raised expectations.
Getting to the site should have been easier than it was, more Via-Michelin’s fault but could do with better signage and Italian road junctions are diabolical.
Access to the site very easy and efficient. English speaking reception let us choose a pitch. Access to the pitch was fairly easy but if I did not have a motor mover on the unit I would have struggled.
Toilets were clean and spacious but a little dated. They could have done with larger shower cubicles but there was plenty of hot water.
Electrics on the pitch are diabolical. Could only use lowest setting on the water heater and an electric kettle was a definite no-no. Not good enough I’m afraid hence the low rating for the pitch itself.
The on-site restaurant was large, airy and appeared to be good value with English spoken. Service was good. The on site shop had an excellent range of goods, really didn’t need to go any further.
The site is right on the shore of lake Garda so wonderful views and sunsets. No traffic noise but our stay coincided with Liberation day (a national holiday in Italy) so the site was quite busy and noisy with children.
All in all we liked this site for the views, access to major roads and easy cycling. We would probably use it again but would choose a quieter time of year.
Second visit to this site having previously visited last year. The site has an incredible setting at the side of the lake and has shops, restaurants within easy reach by car, cycling or walking if you feel up to it. The pitches are close together and many are on a slope and the ground is rough. The staff appear friendly, the restaurant on site seems busy but we never ate there. We have a dog so we never used the pool area. The views of the lake are stunning. I suggest wearing water shoes to access the lake as it is rocky in most parts. The only disappointment was the toilets / showers appear not as well maintained as last year. They were often pretty dirty, lots of insects squashed on the walls, broken mirrors and shower fixings etc. To maintain a 5 * rating I think they will need some urgent improvements in this area. The area is beautiful so this does balance the negatives.
A very busy site on lake garda. Pitches are between trees, once on are ok but tight to get in. The pitches nearer the lake are mud/dusty not 4* some pitches were sloping and tightly packed in. There is a nice lakeside green area but the lake here is a murky brown colour not blue like manerba or sirmione. The nearby site had loud entertainment till 11pm. Hot water in showers and facilities good, wouldn\'t describe as excellent compared to others in Italy. Close to sirmione and Desenzano to catch train to Verona. The swimming pool is very nice but across the road on another section of the campsite you have to go round the car park and under the road pass, you also have to wear a swimming hat in the pool. You can buy one at expense from the lifeguard! This site is for families not couples.
Excellent campsite with luxurious facilities. The only drawback was that the pitches were in between trees and very difficult to get into.
Stayed at this site for the last two weeks. Very good facilities, shower block and toilets always kept clean, Pitches have mostly shade so check before you pitch, you may want the evening sun! Pitches are not always level, check for this so you are not sleeping down hill! We had a fully serviced pitch, water, drain and electricity. All worked ok although I think the 6 amp was not always available. Weather was kind so we did not get any rain, however pitch was damp on arrival and mover struggled with damp conditions. Recommend this site.
We stayed on camping San francisco last July, we called on spec and had not booked but the staff were very helpful and asked that we go and pick a pitch, we stayed 3 nights and had lovely views of the lake. We swam in the lovely lake and ate in the on site restaurant, the staff at the restaurant were very helpful. We decided to stay 2 more nights but had to move pitch which was not a problem. The showers and toilet block were very clean, we also used the washing machine and driers very reasonable price for these. We went on bikes rides along the coast to desanzano de Garda which was not too far away
Excellent campsite. Using off season discount I was given a site right in front of Lake Garda so I could watch the swans sailing by. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent with plenty of hot water and it was very clean and bright. The bus connection to Sermione was not far away so a most pleasant stay
Pitches small and poorly maintained, mud baths, difficulty getting car on pitch with caravan because of small pitch. Only 3 amp electric, blowing constantly, showers cold, shop overpriced. No dog walking or facilities for them. Good location to Sirmione
Pitches were mud baths and very small. Certainly nowhere near 4*. They needed gravelling so units didn't sink to their axles in the mud as mine did! No money spent on pitches. Toilets poorly maintained.
Couple in motorhome with dog. First time at site on Acsi card. Pitches not biggest but loved site. Checked in for 2 nights stayed for 10. Didn't want to leave. Great restaurant good food/portions/price. Bus stop near site every hour both ways. Supermarket walking distance. Can swim in lake from small beach and launch small boats/rent pedalos etc. Short cycle rides to historic Sirmione (must do) and Desenzano a lovely town with great market on Tuesdays, lovely bars/restaurants. We rented car through Internet (cheaper than office) and had great time exploring the stunningly beautiful towns surrounding the Lake. Had some memorable meals lakeside in beautiful restaurants at reasonable prices. visited Verona/Brescia. Venice achievable for day trip. Upgraded to lakeside pitch for last 3 days when price dropped, recommended. No on site dog walking facility but can easily walk out of site along Lake towards Sirmione or entrance. A memorable holiday and we will return. Friendly helpful staff
