In the north-west of Sicily, near the town of San Vito Lo Capo, lies Camping Village El Bahira. San Vito Lo Capo is a gorgeous place and a very popular, exclusive holiday destination for Italians from the mainland. In addition to enjoying the sun and the sea, you can take beautiful trips in the western part of Sicily.
El Bahira is beautifully situated on the sea, on the west side of the cape where you can also find San Vito lo Capo. You can enjoy beautiful sunsets here. The first thing that strikes you are the many cosy corners and the abundance of greenery. On the camping site a lot of attention is paid to ecology and peace. Therefore, car traffic on the camping site is limited.
The pitches for tents, caravans and mobile homes are separate from each other. The pitches have quite a bit of shade. In addition, there are beautiful and well equipped rental mobile homes.
Herb path and garbage donkey
Two special features linked to the attention paid to ecology are the herb path and the donkey that comes to collect the (separated) garbage from the camping site each day.
Swimming pool with seawater
El Bahira has a swimming pool with seawater, which overlooks the sea, a separate children's pool and loungers around. To get to the sea, you have to walk down from the camping site. There is a restaurant with full menu, but there are also other nice eating establishments in nearby San Vito Lo Capo.
For coffee, a drink or an ice cream you can go to the camping site bar. In peak season there is the usual organised entertainment.

The staff gave a wonderfully warm welcome. The campsite has a \"flowers\" theme, which can be found in the name of the \"streets\" of pitches. There is a strong sense of care for nature and the environment everywhere, and they take care to help children appreciate these. The swimming pool is splendid, next to a lovely bar/restaurant, but it is not what we expected from the \"sea pool\" described in the handbook. It is a standard outdoor pool; it is not possible to swim in the sea. There are two free tennis courts with great sea views. A lot of rock-climbing activity goes on just outside the campsite. There is a good mixture of permanent tents/caravans, and mobile campers. The simple pizzeria offered great pizzas in an environment that was friendly and fun.
Large site with poor access to the sea. Pitch was ok and toilets clean. Showers easily operated using a card. Chemical toilet disposal point only unlocked between certain hours!! Site quiet even on entertainment night. Very helpful staff and free Wi-Fi at reception. Long hot walk along road to San Vito or easy cycling with electric bikes as initially very steep.
Pitches tight for large outfits due to position of trees and overhead summer screening frames, or totally buried under trees. Toilets clean but now old and should be replaced. Pool open and clean. Camping operators also on site. Pizza night very good value. On site shop very expensive with limited range of items.
Unreliable environment, shuttle service if they feel like it, decentralised not served for San Vito Lo Capo,
unreliable for personal health and safety.
