Do you like the combination of sea and mountains? If so, Camping Las Hortensias is the place for you. You are staying here on the green coast of Spain, the Costa Verde. The renowned Parque Nacional Picos de Europa is situated in the area. Moreover, the campsite has direct access to a fine sandy beach.

Attractive hydrangeas

You will be staying among an abundance of hydrangeas on the grounds. The pitches are located in long rows on a lawn along paved roads. Some have a sea view and some are partly shaded. Rows of trees, hedges and a few buildings provide shelter against the wind. The camping is surrounded by tree-covered hills. The sanitary facilities on the campsite are new and are cleaned daily.

Beautiful sandy beach

It takes less than a minute to walk to the beautiful and sheltered sandy beach, bordering the campsite. For children (possibly for adults, too) this is one big play paradise. The considerable tidal difference will allow you to amble between the rocks, where there are lovely little water pools for children. There is also a great eating establishment at the beach. From here you have a superb sea view. Over weekends, many Spanish day visitors flock to the bay, but during the week the hotel and camping guests have the place virtually to themselves.

Fun and games

Apart from the beach, children will enjoy the playground and soccer field.

The camping shop has a generous range. Feel like a luxury meal out? The adjacent hotel offers a good daily menu at discounted prices to camping guests.

"Family campsite by the sandy beach of the Cantabrian coast. A safe and exciting beach during low tide, with inlets filled with fish. Perfect for young children. Campsite guests receive a 10% discount at the hotel restaurant. A 10% discount in June and September. Excellent toilet block."

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - This is a lovely site in an amazing location. The shower / toilet block was one of the best we've ever seen. Thanks so much to the wonderful ladies who kept them sparkling clean. Kid's play area was simple but effective A really great base to explore the beautiful Costa Verde.
Disliked - Not a dislike, but worth being aware the emplacements are pretty compact. Our neighbours were very friendly so no problem there!

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - The location is fabulous meaning you can walk to the beach, swim and return to your pitch so easily. There is a great walk in the woods above the campsite and the hotel restaurant with its fantastic views is excellent.
Disliked - We wished that the campsite stayed open for the season until the end of the month as the weather was good, the sea was warm and there still seemed to be many people who would use it.

Liked - Fantastic location, nice level pitches, tennis court
Disliked - The football pitch had so many divots and holes I feel it was dangerous and the one go I had on it I nearly sprained my ankle, maybe would be better if tarmacced.

Liked - Really liked this campsite and we were sad to leave. The proximity to the beach is perfect. It was a quiet site and everyone was very respectful of either other. The WC / Shower facilities were kept really clean and were in excellent condition. The on-site shop was basic but there was fresh bread, milk, fruit and veg.
Disliked - The checking in process could have been far more informative. It would have been useful to tell us about the facilities on the site and to have given us a map of the site. The pitch we were allocated was unsuitable for our motorhome but eventually it was sorted, even though I had given the size of our motorhome at the point of booking. It was also frustrating that a key was required to hook up to the electric supply This should have been explained at check in as it took some head scratching to figure out how to connect.

Liked - Location was superb next to a clean and charming beach. Amenities were very clean. Lots of hot water. Laundry room with washing machines and dryers.
