As others have stated, the site is split into two, quite different, sections.
The more open, cliff top section, with some wonderful views over the beaches and sea, though many plots require considerable levelling apparatus!. And. The section within the walled grounds of an old house. The latter is very peaceful and belies its proximity to the town. Though it offers no distant views (just the garden walls. Both sections are well grassed. )
Ablutions were good and the bar/terrace area is charming, with a variety of sections/rooms splitting it up. Breakfast and drinks are cheap.
Comillas itself is well worth a visit. Medieval centre and lots of bars and restaurants. Busy and touristy in high season. But, a good one/two night stopper en roule along the coast or to the Picos.
If you want a lovely country embedded site. I\'d recommend El Molina de Cabuerniga (a few miles further inland). For a good coastal site: Camping Las Arenas, a few miles further west along the coast.
Magic views. Toilet facilities clean. No hot water for male showers. Women had hot showers, hence one male using female shower area. Bar and restaurant not open. Relatively expensive compared to most other ACSI sites we have stayed in this June. Had to pay cash. Only about 30 sites of 250 in use despite being a Saturday night. Gate locked until 9am Sunday morning.
The location of the campsite is fabulous, you cannot argue with that. Pitches overlook the Sea, in close proximity to the small friendly town of Comillas. However this site is overpriced. Hot shower, yes, but no hot water to wash your dishes or hand wash your clothes. There was NO discount for ACSI members despite them displaying ACSI sign and them being on this site. We were asked to pay in cash too. We had to ask the guy who was cutting the grass to come and open the bar and there were only small cans of lager available, restaurant not open. Fabulous site if you're loaded.
Really disappointed with this site, the only positive is the cliff top views. We were directed to a large pitch on arrival, all good. I pointed out to the member of staff that it had a reserved sign on it but he advised that this was no problem. I had not realised that there is no acsi discount here so we were charged a night. No hot water anywhere except in the showers so people were using the showers to get hot water for dish washing. After a few days we were advised that we would have to move to a different pitch as someone had reserved the one we were on, no apology was offered. We decided that if we were going to have the hassle of packing up to move then we might as well just go elsewhere.
