In the east of the tourist Tirol region, on the south side of the mighty Grossglockner, lies Nationalparkcamping Kals. You camp here on a low lying field or on one of the terraces. The camping site is popular with nature lovers and sports enthusiasts. With ski pistes galore, walking and cycling paths (from easy to strenuous) in the immediate vicinity of the camping site, there is no need to be bored.
Camping amidst the mountains
On camping site Nationalparkcamping Kals you can choose your own pitch. This can be down on the camping site or up on one of the terraces. Although the pitches are not demarcated, you will have ample privacy. This is because the pitches are very spacious. The pitches are level with a grass surface, but vegetation is limited because of the high altitude of the camping site.
There are more than one hundred touring pitches. The camping site does not offer rental accommodation, so you have to bring your own tent, trailer tent, motorhome or caravan.
Winter sport paradise
Winter sport enthusiasts will appreciate the shuttle bus which travels between the camping site to the pistes. However, even if you do not like snow that much, you can indulge in other sporty activities. You can go walking or cycling, for instance. On the camping site and in the village of Kals you will also come across many mountaineering fanatics. There is not a great deal to do on the camping site for children, but there is a playground within a two minute walk from the grounds.
Restaurants in Kals
There is no restaurant on the camping site, but you will find a few eating establishments in the village of Kals. You can also do your shopping in Kals.
